WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL
WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Women Empowerment and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the upliftment and progress of our nation. The Women Development Cell (WDC) in Higher Educational Institutionsprovides a platform to students to voice their concerns about changing gender roles, about societal restrictions, unhealthy mind-sets, legal knowledge and career issues.
In pursuance of the directions of the UGC and in the effort to make Vikas College a strong kernel of gender sensitization, the Women Development Cell (WDC) was constituted in June 2005 under the able convenorship of our Ex-CEO Late Smt. Vidya P. Raut.
Vision:
- To mould and enlighten the young minds and pave their way to grow into balanced and better human beings
Mission:
- To encourage female students to be self-reliant and economically independent
- To instil positive self-esteem and confidence in the female students so that they can take the right decision in and for-their lives
- To spread awareness among the students about the social, legal and constitutional rights of women in order to prevent the exploitation based on gender
- To make females cognizant about different kinds of violence: sexual, physical and mental and to further equip them with the knowledge and strength to fight against them
- To create awareness about the need of gender equality
- To provide equal career opportunities to all the genders
- To eliminate deep rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination
Objectives:
- To help building an egalitarian society
- To help female students live a balanced life where they neither lurk into depression nor take the recourse to aggression
- To stress upon the development of women in every sphere
- To organize events and activities for women empowerment
- To create an environment that will help women realize their full potential and give their best
The Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within campus as well as in the society. It has been organising varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events for the upliftment of women and spread the real importance of gender equality in the society through college students.

Gandhian Studies Centrein colleges is dedicated to awakening and dissemination of Gandhian thought, literature and ideals. Gandhi Studies Centre aims to uphold the ideals of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The Centre explores the relevance of Gandhian ideology in the present world through seminars, workshops, lectures and exhibitions, premised on the conviction that Gandhijiβs philosophy has perennial relevance.
To commemorate the legacy of the Mahatma and conduct special studies on the thoughts, values and actions influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhian Studies Centre was established in June 2009. Thus, the Centre was approved by the UGC and the activities were conducted as per the guidelines of the UGC. Thereafter, the Centre did not receive any grant even though the UGC has continued the Scheme and the approval to the Centre of our College. At present the Centre has been generously patronized by the College Management.
