About the Department
The Department of Marathi at Vikas College of Arts, Science & Commerce plays an important role in promoting linguistic competence and cultural literacy among undergraduate students. As an affiliated institution of the University of Mumbai, the Department follows the curriculum prescribed by the University and contributes to the holistic development of students through language-based skill enhancement.
The Department currently offers Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) in Marathi exclusively to students of the First Year undergraduate programmes across various streams. The course is designed to strengthen students’ command over Marathi language, enhance communication skills, and foster appreciation for Marathi literature and cultural heritage.
Marathi, being the official language of Maharashtra and a rich literary tradition, serves as a vital medium for academic engagement, social interaction, and professional communication. The Department is committed to nurturing both functional proficiency and literary sensibility among learners.
