Introduction
As per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai and in accordance with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the College has constituted a Women Development Cell (WDC) to promote gender equity, ensure a safe academic environment, and uphold the dignity and rights of women within the campus.
The primary objective of the Women Development Cell is to create awareness about gender-related issues in society and to sensitize students and staff towards gender equality, prevention of sexual harassment, domestic violence, and discrimination. The Cell works proactively to foster an inclusive and respectful campus culture, free from bias and inequality.
In line with UGC norms and the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, the institution is committed to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of girl students and women employees. The Cell undertakes preventive and awareness-based measures such as seminars, workshops, counseling sessions, interactive programmes, and outreach activities to educate the campus community about their rights and responsibilities.
The College strongly discourages any form of discrimination based on gender and promotes equal opportunities for all students. It believes in empowering women through education, capacity-building initiatives, leadership opportunities, and personality development programmes.
The Women Development Cell comprises:
- The Principal as the Chairperson
- A Coordinator from the teaching faculty
- Representatives from teaching and non-teaching staff
- Student representatives
The Cell functions in a transparent and participatory manner, working towards the holistic development, protection, and empowerment of women in the institution.
